Inside the Statler Hilton and Lake Cliff Tower

This summer I am working on an independent
study through CCCCD where I attend each
semester and going to learn the old fashioned
way to shoot with sheet film and the 4x5
camera!

The beautiful, restored Lake Cliff Towers came to mind
as I am looking for locations that might have a 60's flair
This lobby may just be a little too pretty and nice
for my 60's look, but it sure was fun to see and chat with
property manager, Patrick Muscanere, who was so kind
to indulge me with a look around and of
course... PHOTOS!

This morning I headed out for downtown and the
old Statler Hilton to check out the light
for a possible photo shoot.

Having attended a lecture several weeks ago
about the Statler
and it's condition and hope of
restoration,I was quite surprised to
find workers all over
the place doing various clean up on the old building.

The building was sort of open, a fellow asked me if i was
meeting someone there, so i answered no, that i was
just hoping to take a few photos. A little while later
I was able to snap a few inside the lobby, which was
really a special treat for me!~

Conrad Hilton was so proud of this grand, flagship
hotel, and it's stairway was known far and wide!
The hotel was opened in 1956, I believe, and was so far
ahead of it's time when built and so novel in design and features,
that it was a real treat to attend a function there or have
the opportunity to spend a few nights there. Ask Conrad,
he flew stars in such as Jane Mansfield and maybe Marilyn,
it was quite a happenin' place in the 50-60's!

R + D Kitchen

My actress friend Elfriede Russell, whom I met on the
set of the Zombie Love student movie, and I met for lunch
today at one of my favorite new places! R + D Kitchen

We were so busy getting to know our
waiter, Brandon, that I forgot to snap a photo of the great
salad I always get called the Newporter! It is delicious~
oh well,
next time a photo~

Immersed in discussion, Elfriede listens!

The Bread Service as they call it, was delicious, you could
smell the fresh bread cooking in the oven when we came in...Brandon just moved here from near
Tupelo, Ms to go to school and work
near his girlfriend! He probably
didn't think that going to work today would
end him up on some crazy ladies
blog and an impromptu photo session!~

Yummy dessert!
Looks like i have been caught!~ we sat right
next to the open kitchen so i had a good vantage
point to snap a few photos for my daily story!

The most Fabulous little French Souffle place in Dallas

My photo friend Nancy and i have been trying since December
to visit the restaurant RISE no. 1, that my friend Sandra took
me to in December for my birthday! Finally today, we had that
chance to go and also stopped in a few stores along Lovers
Lane, like Mary Cates, and Junkadoodle, where Nancy found
a cute Adirondack childs chair for a great photo prop!

The front of Rise No. 1

Meagan (l) and Kim (r) let us snap a few!

Maybe should be titled, Nancy's Day Out!
The bathroom itself is fabulous, with miss
matched doors, communal wash area,
French linen towels, and too much to
take in !
et, pour le dessert, Bread Pudding Souffle! Yummy!

Nancy's Spinach Souffle
the front waiting area
we shared our souffle's and mine was the special of the
day, Southwestern Chicken with peppers! Delicious!~

Mary Cates has a new Shipment!

Nicholson-Hardie was our last stop along Lovers Lane, their great
gifts and greenhouse are always lot's of fun. They have a fabulous
line of plastic Melamie wear that look like vintage plates and
platters, to take out to the pool

Joe and Krissy's wedding

My friend from high school, Penni Van Horn (Crouch) asked me
to video
her son's rehearsal dinner last weekend. I ended up also
shooting the wedding
video and due to my blogger being down,
just now am posting! It almost rained
so we were so thankful that the
sky's clouds held on, at the outdoor event
at the Arboretum!
It was gorgeous and even cooled off a bit ~
Vendors:
Location:Dallas Arboretum
DJ:Platinum Sound Music
Photographer: Brooks Weddings
Catering: GILS Elegant Catering
Rehearsal Dinner: Sammy's BBQ

Everything went off without a hitch, no rain for the wedding!~
Shawn Kelly did a great job at the rehearsal dinnner at Sammy's BBQ
downtown
as the dj and time manager, as well at the wedding. He also
made quite an impression on me, helping bus tables!
Brooks and Leigh were
fabulous with the photos which i can't wait
to see after seeing the sneak
on their blog this week! They
are incredibly talented at capturing everything with an
artistic eye~!
The food and display was outstanding from Gil's

Catering with Lucy at the helm. Everything was beautiful
with the grass as an accent. The groom even made
the chocolate chip cookies used to decorate the
grooms' cake!

I stepped back in time today . . .

I must have some kind of sickness as I am so obsessed
with photographing old buildings and trees... I guess I have
taken it upon myself to document every little town in Texas
to make sure there are photos for the day
when it is all torn down. . . anyway, here are some
photos I snapped today while wandering up to Melissa and Anna
